Nordic Semiconductor announced a partnership with Guangdong's toy and game developer based on augmented reality (AR) technology, Shenzhen Beibei Technology Co., Ltd.æžè´ç§‘技 chose Nordic's Bluetooth® Low Energy / Bluetooth LE nRF52832 system-on-chip (SoC) as its wireless connectivity solution for its portable AR gaming device Geek Unit.

By pairing Geek Unit hardware with its companion app via Bluetooth, you can enter the app selection game to team up, build battlefields and virtually shoot real-life players to create a thrilling game arena.
With Nordic SoC support for central and peripheral low-power Bluetooth characters, each Geek Unit can not only establish a low-latency connection with the user's smartphone, but also support up to 8 people competing in the same field, with a communication distance of up to 30 M, thus enabling multiplayer AR games in a variety of real-world environments.
Geek Unit hardware is compatible with Bluetooth 4.0 (or above) Android and iOS smartphones and supports two game apps - Geekplay or Geek Unit. Players can choose to use the Geekplay app for a large infrared battle game, using real objects as a cover, obstacles; or experience the Geek Unit app based on Apple ARKit for a full experience. The Geek Unit device is equipped with a built-in lithium battery and, with the low power consumption of the Nordic SoC, provides approximately 300 days of standby time and 15 hours of continuous operation.
Nordic's nRF52832 multi-protocol SoC is a member of Nordic's sixth-generation ULP wireless connectivity solution that combines a 64MHz 32-bit Arm® Cortex® M4F processor with a 2.4GHz multi-protocol radio (supports Bluetooth 5, ANTTM and Proprietary 2.4GHz RF software with -96dB receiver sensitivity, 512kB Flash memory and 64kB RAM.
The S332 software stack for this SoC device is the Bluetooth 5 certified / ANTTM RF software protocol stack for building advanced low-power Bluetooth and ANT applications. The S332 software stack supports central, peripheral, broadcast, and observer low-power Bluetooth roles for up to 20 connections and simultaneous multi-role operation.
