IRIR Introduces Rugged, Three-Phase Gate Driver IC for Automotive Applications

International Rectifier (IR), a global leader in power semiconductors and management solutions, recently introduced the AUIRS20302S three-phase grid drive IC for automotive applications in 12V, 24V and 48V automotive applications, including high pressure air conditioning compressors, pumps, and up to 600V brushless DC motor driver and high voltage motor driver.



AUIRS20302S is suitable for 12V, 24V and 48V boardnet automotive platforms. The maximum operating voltage of these platforms is up to 200V. The new device is equipped with an external pre-regulator that can generate its own power supply voltage to ensure that the gate driver does not exceed 17V even under load dump conditions. If the total power consumption does not exceed 100mA, the pre-regulator VPR pin can also supply voltage to surrounding system components.

The AUIRS20302S is capable of driving six N-channel power MOSFETs or IGBTs that supply high-side drive circuits through bootstrapping. The device also features embedded dead time, protection against cross conduction, and undervoltage and overcurrent protection with diagnostics.

The new device uses proprietary HVIC and latched immunity CMOS technology to reinforce the overall monolithic structure. The logic inputs are compatible with standard CMOS or LSTTL outputs as low as 3.3V logic. The output driver has a high pulse current buffer stage designed for minimum driver cross conduction. Propagation delays match each other, simplifying use in high-frequency applications.

All IR automotive IC products follow the automotive quality concept of zero defect in IR requirements, and undergo dynamic and static device average testing and 100% automatic wafer level visual inspection. The new device complies with the AEC-Q100 standard. The bill of materials used is environmentally-friendly, lead-free and complies with the RoHS directive.
