According to notebook OEMs, Intel just adjusted the schedule for the next-generation netbook and portable mobile platform Cedar Trail-M, postponed from September to November. The reason is that the graphics driver used by the platform has caused some problems and has not yet passed Windows 7 certification.
The Cedar Trail-M mobile platform will include two new CPUs: the Atom N2800 1.86GHz and N2600 1.6GHz manufactured in 32nm process, priced at $47 and $42, respectively, to replace the Atom N475 and N455 currently on the market. The new CPU will also integrate display cores supporting the DX 10.1 specification with the existing NM10 single-chip set.
Sources indicated that because netbooks are not mainstream products in the IT market, and AMD has the same level of APU platform, Intel's delay in Cedar Trail-M will not have a big impact on various vendors. At the same time Intel's new dual-core CPU Atom D2700 ($52) and D2500 ($42) will also be postponed until November.
