Silicon wafer substrate LED chip comes out

OSRAM has successfully placed a layer of gallium nitride luminescent material on a 150 mm diameter silicon wafer substrate to produce a high performance blue and white light emitting diode (LED) prototype silicon chip.
This is the world's first time to use silicon wafer substrates instead of sapphire substrates to make LED chips , and to maintain the same lighting quality and efficiency. After testing, the Blu-ray UX:3 chip has a power of 634 mW at 3.15 volts, which is equivalent to 58% conversion efficiency. It is reported that the LED chip has entered the pilot stage and is expected to be put on the market within two years.
Silicon is widely used in the semiconductor industry to meet the requirements of large wafer diameter production, and has better thermal characteristics and lower price. Therefore, silicon wafer substrate chips have obvious advantages.
