NASA Releases New 360-degree Image to Explore Mars with Curiosity

NASA recently released a 360-degree panoramic video shot by Curiosity on Mars. This fragment was originally shot on August 5 in an area called "Murray Hills", which is about 5400 meters away from Mount Sharp.

NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory said: "The mountain peaks and the platform are covered with rock with certain resistance to wind erosion, which is conducive to the preservation of deposits that have accumulated continuously and cyclically."

Curiosity has been "inhabited" on Mars since 2012, which is an important breakthrough for U.S. space programs and the global scientific community. Curiosity weighs about 907 kilograms, of which scientific instruments weigh about 80 kilograms.

The main task of Curiosity is to measure and analyze the earth samples of Mars to search for signs of water and life. The equipment will emit a laser beam to the surface of Mars, so that the soil particles dispersed, so that the system can measure the chemical composition of dust particles.

NASA explained that the initial task of Curiosity was to "find and measure an ancient living environment." They thought Curiosity had successfully completed this task. Now the new task of Curiosity is to look for more evidence to confirm whether there is or is an environment suitable for the existence of life on Mars.

The NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory stated in a statement: “A key goal is to understand how the freshwater lake environment has evolved into a more severe and drier environment.” NASA also announced that it will prepare with the European Space Agency in the next few years. The other three Mars missions are expected to deploy machines like Curiosity on Mars in 2020.
