On June 8th, Nordic Semiconductor held a briefing on the first day of the 2017 CES Asia 2017, officially releasing the new nRF52810, a new member of the nRF52 system-on-chip (SoC) series, which is currently the most cost-effective on the market. Single chip Bluetooth 5 solution.
Bluetooth 5 brings a number of significant improvements in performance, such as twice the data bandwidth of low-power Bluetooth v4.2 (2Mbps) and broadcast packet expansion with 8x broadcast performance. While continuing these advantages, the nRF52810 breaks through the cost barrier of Bluetooth 5 and reduces the cost to "entry level." The nRF52 System-on-Chip was nominated for the 2017 China IoT Technology Innovation Award for outstanding performance and applicability.
The nRF52810 SoC uses the same 100dBm link budget 2.4GHz multi-protocol radio as the nRF52832 SoC and is equipped with a 64MHzh 32-bit ARM Cortex-M4 MCU to meet demanding performance requirements; it uses the same hardware and software as other nRF52 series SoCs. Architecture, which means that migration between nRF52 series is straightforward. At the same time, although the nRF52810 is a basic Bluetooth 5 SoC, there are still many common peripherals available - compared to the nRF52832's 512kB flash and 64kB RAM, it integrates 196kB flash and 24kB RAM, enough to run typical high throughput, low Cost application code and support for device firmware update (OTA-DFU) for target applications via over-the-air technology.
In addition, the nRF52810 is compatible with the nRF52 Development Kit (DK), and the application code compiled for the device is portable to all SoCs in the nRF52 family. Users can use the parallel multi-role S132 protocol stack supporting 20 links and the nRF5 SDK when developing application software.
The nRF52810 enables cost-effective, high-volume production applications to benefit from the key performance benefits of Bluetooth 5. Target applications include network-connected sensors and beacon components that make up the Internet of Things, low-cost wearables, and computers and tablets. Low-cost wireless mouse and keyboard, toys, disposable medical monitoring equipment, and basic RF remote control.
