On October 21st, market research firm Displaybank estimated that the market size of light-emitting diodes (LED) in 2009 could reach 6.9 billion US dollars, among which large-size LCD panel applications ranked first, and handheld products ranked second.
   Displaybank pointed out that LEDs are used in large-size LCD monitors, with a compound annual growth rate of 135% from 2007 to 2013. In 2013, the LED market could reach $14 billion.
   Displaybank said that the LED light source has a wide range of applications, including mobile phones, automobiles, large-size panel backlights, etc., and potential business opportunities are strong. Because of the optimistic LED industry, many operators are rushing to invest.
