It should be noted that the voltage drop of R is controlled at 0.5V-1V, because the minimum operating voltage of the PWM chip is about 8V. In order to make the battery work at 10V, the voltage drop on R should not be too large. In addition, the PWM chip supply voltage is too low to cause inoperative or insufficient power to drive the MOS transistor.
