The end of the disappointing 2012 chip makers revenue fell by 3%

According to reports, relevant research companies recently stated that in 2012, the revenue of global semiconductor manufacturers fell by 3% compared with last year. The top 25 chip manufacturers in the industry are also not the same as before, and the revenue decline even exceeds the industry average, reaching 4.2%. Moreover, the proportion of these manufacturers in the total industry revenue has also declined.

Analysts said that this was mainly due to too many macroeconomic uncertainties and excessive pressure on inventory. PC supply chain, memory and other products are among the hardest-hit areas. The PC business was previously the driving force of the semiconductor industry, but this year it also fell for the first time by 2.5%. Although the smart phone chip business has made great contributions to various manufacturers this year, it has also begun to slow down after consumer hot pursuits have receded.

Only two of the top ten semiconductor manufacturers this year have seen no decline. Qualcomm is one of them. Not only that, the company's revenue also rose 29.6%, the market share jumped from sixth to third in the industry. The other company whose business did not decline was Broadcomm, which rose 8.8%.

Compared with the two vendors mentioned above, semiconductor giant Intel’s revenue in this area fell by 2.7%. The company claimed that its market share was 16.6%, which is basically double that of Samsung. Samsung’s ranking is second only to Intel’s. two.
