Asustek will become the number one Tegra customer to swallow 2.5 million a year

According to sources from Taiwan, Asustek will replace Acer as the number one NVIDIA Tegra processor. It is expected that 2.5 million units will be ordered this year, including the current Tegra 2 and the next-generation Tegra 3.

Asustek has become the first brand of tablet computers other than Apple. In the first half of this year, it shipped a total of 400,000 units, of which the $399 entry-level Eee Pad Transformer has successfully established itself in the United States. Sources revealed that the tablet uses high-standard components, but the price and cost are almost the same, the profit is mainly from the external keyboard base that users often buy together.

Asustek has also begun preparations for the second-generation Eee Pad Transformer, which will use the Tegra 3 quad-core processor and the next-generation Google Android operating system, code-named Ice Cream Sandwich, and is expected to be released in October.

Asus also plans to sell the Eee Pad Slider with a sliding keyboard in the price range of 650-800 US dollars in July. In the fourth quarter, the company launched the first naked-eye 3D tablet Eee Pad MeMO 3D and tablet/smartphone combo. Padfone, also a combination of Tegra 3 and ice cream sandwich system, costs $549-799.

In addition, Asustek plans to launch a notebook based on the Tegra 3 processor at the end of this year, carrying the Google Chrome operating system.
