On the afternoon of June 25, the opening ceremony of the cross-strait semiconductor lighting industry exchange and cooperation conference and the signing ceremony of cross-strait semiconductor lighting cooperation were held in Beijing. At the meeting, Zhou Ningling, CEO of the Foundation for the Accreditation of Legal Persons (TAF), introduced the progress of LED lighting standards and certification in Taiwan.
Zhou Ningling said that the Taiwan authorities are actively promoting the standardization of LED lighting products. On December 4, 2008, CNS 15233 [Light-emitting diode road lighting fixtures] was announced. This year, the relevant standards for AC LEDs are being prepared.
In addition to the CNS standard, the development of industrial specifications among the LED industry in Taiwan is also very active. Between 2008 and 2009, the LED lighting standards and quality research and development alliances organized by Taiwan Industrial Research Institute and Jingyuan Optoelectronics have formulated 17 kinds of DC LED lighting industry specifications. The 19 companies including Taiwan Industrial Technology Research Institute and Fuhua Electronics have formed the "AC LED Application R&D Alliance" and are actively formulating AC LED lighting industry specifications. Currently, two industry specifications have been completed.
In addition, Zhou Ningling said that the Taiwan authorities are also actively promoting the voluntary certification of LED street lamps and other products. Now CNS 15233 has been added as a positive character marking item to promote voluntary product verification. At present, it has been approved that the Taiwan Industrial Research and Development Center of the Taiwan Foundation, the Taiwan University of Electric Power Research and Test Center, and the Measurement Technology Development Center of the Institute of Research and Development of the Foundation of the People's Republic of China apply for the use of positive-labeled accredited laboratories for product sampling and inspection.
