The price fluctuations of LCD panels have affected the sensitive nerves of downstream TV manufacturers. The price surge of LCD panels that lasted for nearly a year had caused TV manufacturers to feel pressure. However, since the second half of this year, LCD panel prices have begun to loosen and have fallen sharply recently. In this situation, some Internet TV brands began brewing price wars. Unlike the white market, color TV companies have continued to show sluggish performance in recent years. According to a report released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the cumulative production of color TVs in the first half of this year was 74.23 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 6.4%; and the cumulative production of LCD TVs was 69.62 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 8.5%.
This also reflects the performance of some listed home appliance giants. Sichuan Changhong's first-half revenue was 34.76 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.07%, and net profit was only 150 million yuan, a year-on-year drop of 66.55%; Hisense Electric's half-year revenue was 13.567 billion yuan, a slight increase of 2.09% year-on-year, and net profit was only 396 million yuan. Hong Shibin, an appliance industry observer, believes that the panel prices will fall, reflecting the fact that there will be a buffer time for actual TV products. The current TV market price trend has been flattening.
