Guide: In life, we often encounter such scenes, such as the shades of apples under different light sources; the color of the human skin under different indoor lighting will be different from the real color. Hotels and restaurants tend to create warmer colours with reddish lights, and cool blues in offices or factory floors. In fact, these examples are closely related to the color rendering of the light source.
In this part, we hope to introduce the concept of light source color rendering to the reader through the introduction of the case, so as to simply understand the relationship between the color rendering index and the color of the sample under different light sources.
Color rendering
A long time ago, humans began to compare colors, usually by putting objects together and then observing them under natural light (sunlight). Although torches, candles, incandescent lamps, and other light sources can be used for illumination, people are used to comparing colors under natural light (sunlight).
In recent years, as fluorescent lamps and LEDs (light-emitting diodes) began to enter the eyeball as an illumination source, the object will display its true color under the illumination of sunlight, but when the object is illuminated by a non-continuous spectrum of gas discharge lamps. Underneath, the color will have different degrees of distortion. We refer to the degree to which the light source represents the true color of the object as the "color rendering" of the light source.
The significance of "color rendering" is the comparison between the color of the object under these new sources and the color under natural light, and how well the match between the two. We call a light source with a similar hue to natural light (sunlight) with good (high) color rendering.
In everyday life, we have access to many different types of lighting sources, such as incandescent lamps, fluorescent lamps and LEDs. In addition, fluorescent lamps and LEDs have appeared in "white" and "warm white" products. It is not difficult to find that the color of the object will vary under different fluorescent lamps and LED (light-emitting diode) illumination sources.
Below, we illuminate the object with a high color rendering D50 fluorescent lamp, a fluorescent lamp with a "natural white" logo, and three LED lights.
