LED lights down to 50 yuan is expected to "fly into the homes of the people"

The more energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly LED lights are hailed as the fourth revolution in the history of human lighting and are expected to replace traditional light sources such as incandescent lamps. However, due to its high price, it is always difficult to open the market. The industry believes that only through the technical innovation will be reduced to 50 yuan below the price of LED lights, LED lights can be popular in the domestic consumer market.

At the recent LED Lighting Summit held at the International Lighting Fair, the price of LED lamps was reduced to the point where they could really open the consumer market into ordinary families and become hot topics.

China is a big producer of LED lamps, and is also considered to be the LED's largest potential consumer market. However, its current application is mainly concentrated in the field of road lighting. It is represented by the demonstration of the “Ten City Millennium” LED street lamp promoted by the government.

Wu Changjiang, chairman of NVC Lighting, stated that the current situation of LED lamps is very similar to that of the energy-saving lamps ten years ago. At that time, the price of energy-saving lamps was as high as 70, 80 yuan, while ordinary lamps cost only a few dollars. The consumer's attention to the price of light bulbs is much higher than its energy-saving effect and service life. However, after nearly a decade of development, the price of energy-saving lamps has been greatly reduced and it has obtained a considerable market share.

Wang Xiwei, special assistant of Epistar’s general manager, believes that if the price of an ordinary brightness LED lamp (lightness of 800 lumens) can be reduced to about 50 yuan, it will basically meet the needs of the average family for the cost-effectiveness of light bulbs and constitute a Traditional light sources are sufficiently competitive. However, he also admits that it is not realistic to be as cheap as energy-saving lamps because of the difference in the service life of LED lamps.

According to any Kaiyuan, vice chairman of the Semiconductor Lighting Professional Committee of China Lighting Association, the current price of incandescent lamps is around RMB 2. The energy-saving lamp is about RMB 15. LED lights through technological innovation, the price will be 40 yuan more appropriate, technically feasible.

Compared with the domestic market, the LED lamp market was first opened in neighboring Japan. According to a group of data from research firm GFK, in the first week of July, LED bulbs accounted for 49.8% of the sales volume of light bulbs in Japan, accounting for about half. Song Yin, head of electrical lighting at the Matsushita Electric Works explained to reporters that since the reconstruction of Japan, there has been a case of power shortage. Consumers also value lighting energy saving. Therefore, the phenomenon of selling LED lights has only appeared.

However, Wu Changjiang, chairman of NVC Lighting, pointed out that the promotion of LED lighting in the domestic residential sector will take some time, and it will depend on government subsidies and upstream chip companies to reduce manufacturing costs in both areas.
