How to check the status of the hard disk
By looking at the status of the hard disk, you can find the hard disk problem in time so that the problem hard disk can be processed as early as possible to reduce the loss. There are two ways to query the status of a hard disk:
[Method 1] Select “Main Menu → Hard Disk Management → Basic Configuration†to enter the “Hard Disk Information†interface of the hard disk management menu.
[Method 2] Select “Main Menu → System Maintenance → System Informationâ€, then select the “Hard Disk Status†property page to enter the “Hard Disk Status†interface of the system information.
What does each hard disk state mean?
The status of the hard disk is "uninitialized"
The hard disk needs to be initialized before it can be used. The purpose of initialization is to pre-allocate the disk, which prevents disk fragmentation and extends the life of the disk.
The status of the hard disk is "normal" or "sleep"
The hard disk can be used normally if it is in the "normal" or "sleep" state. Sleeping means that the recorder can put the non-working hard disk for a long time and enter the sleep state in time. This can reduce the power consumption and extend the life of the hard disk.
On the Main Menu → Hard Disk Management → Advanced Configuration page, you can choose whether to enable the hard disk hibernation function. By default, enable hard disk hibernation.
The status of the hard disk is "abnormal"
Generally, the hard disk is damaged and cannot work normally. In this case, try:
a. Re-plug the hard drive;
b. Reinitialize the hard disk;
c. Replace the hard drive test.
The status of the hard disk is "not present"
In this case, the recorder does not recognize the hard disk.
a. Check if the power cable and data cable connected to the hard disk are loose.
b. Confirm that the hard disk is a monitoring dedicated hard disk.
What is hardware quota, disk group mode
The quota storage mode allows you to allocate fixed storage capacity to the channel and properly configure the recording storage space of each channel.
For example, if the video of an important channel is to be stored for 30 days, then the capacity of the hard disk will be allocated a larger amount; if the video is not so important, it can be allocated for 15 days, and the capacity of the hard disk can be allocated smaller.
The disk storage mode is to group the hard disks and then write the specified channels to the specified disk group. In other words, the hard disk in this group can be fixed to which channels to record.
On the Main Menu → Hard Disk Management → Advanced Configuration screen, you can select the hard disk storage mode. The "quota" and "disk group" modes are mutually exclusive, and the default is the quota mode. The disk group management function requires device support. The actual situation is subject to change.
How to perform disk detection
The hard disk detection function of Haikang DVR supports "SMART detection" and "bad track detection".
SMART detection can monitor the head unit of the hard disk, the temperature of the hard disk, the dielectric material of the disk surface, the motor and its driving system, the internal circuit of the hard disk, etc., and analyze and predict the problems that may occur in the hard disk in time.
The steps are as follows:
1. Select “Main Menu→System Maintenance→Hard Disk Detection†to enter the “SMART Configuration†interface of the hard disk detection.
2. Select "Hard Disk Number" and "Self Test Type".
3. Click on the right side of SMART Detection to start the self-test.
4. View the test results in the “Self-Assessment†and “Overall Assessment†sections.
Bad track detection is a system that detects bad sectors present in the hard disk.
The steps are as follows:
1. Choose Main Menu → System Maintenance → Hard Disk Detection → Bad Track Detection to enter the Bad Track Detection interface of the hard disk detection.
2. Select "Hard Disk Number" and "Detection Area".
3. Then click the "Detect" button to start bad track detection on the current hard disk.
4. After the test is finished, the user can check whether the hard disk has bad sectors.
What is the difference between a video-only hard disk and a normal hard disk?
