In the case of small load and short strut, the commonly used pillars are in the form of double angle steel (Fig. 11-3a ) and buckle angle steel (Fig. 11-3b ). Among them, the double-angle steel column is connected by the reinforcing plate between the angle steel and the angle steel, and is easy to mass-produce, so it is widely used in the truss structure; and the pillar in the form of the buckle angle steel is limited due to the inconvenient welding operation.

The cross-section of the medium-sized struts is made of three H -section struts welded by three steel plates (Fig. 11-4a ), two slab welded struts (Fig. 11-4b , c , d ) and four angle steel welded struts. (Fig. 11-4e ). Among them, the H -shaped pillar is the most widely used because of its reasonable structure and large bearing capacity; the closed rectangular section pillar is used for the structure and machine.

When the force is large (up to several hundred tons), the H -shaped section ( Fig. 11-5a) , the cross section (Fig. 11-5b ) composed of large components and the steel plate with two I-beams can be welded. The cylindrical structure is composed (Fig. 11-5c ).
